Earth Birthday

Considering that the Earth was around for much longer than we have been, there's no way of knowing which day is Terra's real birthday. Considering geological time, her birthday was likely not even a 'day' as we know it now... it was probably more like a month, or a year, or a hundred years.

And what do you get a planetary mass that has everything? Well, we know she has a bad case of the Humans... poor thing is sleeping troubled lately. Humies crawling all over her skin, digging in, burning things, polluting... it's no wonder we get so many earthquakes: she's itchy!

We Figments have it easier, though. We enjoy a special relationship with the Mothership. We realize that we can't exist without her, so we do as much as we can for her. Just the other day I led a large group of us on a Soothing Expedition. We traveled to one of her more egregious wounds and settled in, chanting and weaving magicks to try to heal the spot. I won't mention where it is, as the location is still raw and sore. We think it'll mend well, given time.

I urge anyone reading this post to do what you can to help heal the Earth. She was your First Mother and she deserves your respect. Plant a tree. Clean up some rubbish. Buy environmentally-friendly products. Reuse and recycle. It all adds up, and if we can impress these behaviors on our children early enough, it'll become a happy habit for them. The alternative is just too horrible to consider.

We are a rock revolving around a golden sun
We are a billion children rolled into one
So when I hear about the hole in the sky
Saltwater wells in my eyes
